SMS Terms and Conditions

These SMS Terms and Conditions apply to text messages sent by Ox Hill Baptist Church, also known as Ox Hill Baptist Church Corporation (“Ox Hill Baptist Church,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), through our primary church telephone number.

By affirmatively opting in to receive SMS messages from Ox Hill Baptist Church, you agree to these SMS Terms and Conditions.

1. SMS Messaging Program

By opting in, you agree to receive customer-care, account-notification, and marketing text messages from Ox Hill Baptist Church.

Customer-care messages may include responses to inquiries, visitor follow-up, requested church information, volunteer coordination, and general pastoral-care follow-up.

Account-notification messages may include church-app or account information, registration confirmations, appointment reminders, participation information, event updates, schedule changes, and emergency notifications.

Promotional messages may include worship and ministry announcements, event invitations, volunteer and community-outreach opportunities, fundraising appeals, giving opportunities, and other promotional church communications.

Consent to receive SMS messages is not required to attend worship, participate in church activities, register for an event, volunteer, receive pastoral care, or make a donation.

2. How You May Opt In

You may opt in to receive SMS messages through one or more of the following methods:

Selecting an unchecked SMS consent box on an Ox Hill Baptist Church form
Providing affirmative verbal consent to an authorized church representative
Replying YES or another affirmative response to an SMS opt-in request
Texting a published opt-in keyword to the church’s primary number
Initiating a text conversation with Ox Hill Baptist Church

When you initiate a text conversation, you consent to receive conversational responses related to your inquiry. Initiating a conversation does not necessarily enroll you in recurring church announcements or promotional messages unless you separately agree to receive them.

Providing a telephone number by itself does not constitute consent to receive recurring SMS messages.

You confirm that the mobile number you provide belongs to you or that you are authorized to provide consent for that number. If your mobile number changes or is reassigned, please notify us.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency may vary. On average, recipients may receive 1–2 messages per month. Message frequency may be higher when you initiate a conversation, request assistance, register for an event, participate in a ministry, or respond to a message. Message and data rates may apply.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply according to the terms of your mobile service plan. Ox Hill Baptist Church does not charge a separate fee for participating in its SMS messaging program.

5. Opting Out

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from Ox Hill Baptist Church.

After submitting an opt-out request, you may receive one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. You will then receive no further SMS messages through this program unless you affirmatively opt in again.

An SMS opt-out applies to text messages sent through this messaging program. It does not automatically unsubscribe you from email, telephone, postal mail, church-app notifications, or other communication methods. You may contact us to update your preferences for those channels.

7. Privacy and Mobile Information

Information collected through the SMS messaging program will be handled according to our Privacy Policy: https://oxhillbaptist.org/privacy

Ox Hill Baptist Church does not sell, rent, or share mobile telephone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in information and consent will not be sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

We may use service providers to support the operation and delivery of our SMS program. These providers may process mobile information only as necessary to provide messaging services on behalf of Ox Hill Baptist Church and are not authorized to use that information for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

8. Sensitive or Confidential Information

SMS is not an appropriate channel for highly sensitive or confidential information. Please do not send detailed medical, financial, counseling, safeguarding, account-access, or other sensitive personal information by text.

Ox Hill Baptist Church may move a conversation to a telephone call, secure form, in-person meeting, or another more appropriate communication method when sensitive or confidential information is involved.

9. Delivery and Carrier Availability

SMS delivery depends on the availability and operation of wireless networks and participating mobile carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Ox Hill Baptist Church cannot guarantee uninterrupted messaging service or that every message will be delivered or received within a particular period.

10. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to independently opt in to the SMS messaging program.

Individuals under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Parents and legal guardians may provide a mobile number and consent to receive messages related to a child’s or youth’s participation in church activities.

11. Changes to These Terms

Ox Hill Baptist Church may update these SMS Terms and Conditions periodically. Changes will be posted at: https://oxhillbaptist.org/smsterms

The “Last Updated” date will be revised when changes are made. Material changes may also be communicated through an appropriate method.
